DID YOU KNOW?
Did you know that 7 out of every 10 adult owns a grill or a smoker? This can mean a lot of yummy food, but it also means an increase of home fires. From 2014-2018, there were an annual average of 8,900 house fires, involving grills. A grill placed to close to anything that can catch on fire is considered a fire hazard. Grills can be extremely hot, also causing burn injuries. National Fire Protection Association has put together safety tips to keep you and your family safe this summer.
SAFETY TIPS
- Propane and charcoal grills should only be used outdoors
- Grills should be placed away from home, deck railing, and out from under low tree branches
- Keep children and pets at least 3ft away from grill while using
- NEVER leave the grill unattended
- Always make sure the lid is open before lighting the grill (org)
